CAMP SAFETY RULES

Dear Guests,

     We want you and your group to have a safe and enjoyable time while using the facilities here at Camp of the Hills.  Here are some of the rules that you must follow.  There are other rules that are common knowledge and common sense dictate.  Please err on the side of caution in all situations.

1.       Maximum speed limit of all vehicles is 15mph

2.      ATV drivers must have written prior approval from Mel Bowman and be carried in the ATV at all times

3.      Extreme care must be taken around all water surfaces and your group is responsible to have qualified lifeguards at all water related activities.  Please note that Lake Travis can rise more than 5 feet in elevation when water is released at Marble Falls for power generation.  Anything left near the shore will be washed away when this occurs.  If you see the water rising leave the lake area immediately!  If you get trapped on the other side DO NOT try to swim across.  We will come and get you in a boat any time night or day.

4.      No children are to be unsupervised at any time.

5.      Kitchen personal must adhere to all rules posted in the kitchen

6.      No parking or driving in undesignated areas

7.      No fires except in designated sites and approved by the camp director

8.      No fireworks

9.      No dogs or other animals that might harm other campers

10.   No fire arms, air guns, sling shots, etc.

11.   No cliff jumping

In case of FIRE!

1.      Call 911 and camp director 512-755-2052

2.      Make sure ALL of your people are accounted for

3.      Evacuate to the golf course on county road 344. (You passed it on your left just before you saw the “Y” ½ mile from the main building.) The Marble Falls Fire Department will stop there first and ask you this important question:  ARE ALL YOUR PEOPLE ACCOUNTED FOR?  If you say no then they will go in and seek to rescue them before they start fighting the fire.  Know the answer to this question when they arrive.

4.      Do Not try to fight the fire

5.      Do not get off the roads during evacuation-do not cut across walking trails but stay on the known roads.

6.      If the paved county road is blocked by fire or smoke evacuate to the boat ramp at the lake.

GO OVER THESE RULES AT THE FIRST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY WITH YOUR GROUP!
